Join our team as an Assistant Accountant and play a key role in supporting the day-to-day operations and workflow of our Finance and Administration function. In this position, you will help ensure consistent and compliant financial practices across all business units, while providing reliable support and guidance to internal stakeholders, including Wilson Services. You will also contribute to accurate and timely reporting, helping drive performance insights and informed decision-making across the group.
Duties will include:
- Support budgeting and forecasting processes, contributing to accurate financial planning and performance tracking
- Prepare monthly management accounts and deliver clear, insightful reporting
- Analyse business dashboards to identify key labour metrics, trends and opportunities for improvement
- Partner with stakeholders to support business strategy development and track key initiatives
- Monitor sub-contractor performance and identify opportunities for cost control and efficiency
- Drive continuous improvement by analysing data and enhancing business processes and practices
- Maintain and strengthen accounting procedures and controls to ensure accurate, reliable reporting
- Provide clear guidance on financial reporting and ensure best-practice financial processes are understood and followed across the business
- Collaborate with Operations and workforce planning teams to review P&L and labour performance, providing actionable recommendations
- Deliver accurate monthly reporting within set timeframes, including meaningful performance commentary
- Analyse historical data and trends to provide insights on revenue, costs and overall business performance
- Monitor revenue generation, cost control and expenditure to support effective financial management
- Liaise with sub-contractors and suppliers to ensure alignment with agreed rate structures
- Prepare and distribute budgets and forecasts to support business planning
- Complete monthly and year-end reconciliations with a high level of accuracy
- Monitor payroll compliance to ensure adherence to relevant standards and requirements
- Support internal and external audit processes by preparing and maintaining accurate documentation
- Maintain data integrity across finance and accounting systems
- Uphold high standards of ethical and professional conduct in all financial activities
- Ensure compliance with corporate policies and relevant legislation across financial and administrative processes
- Stay informed on relevant legislation to support strong governance and compliance practices
To be successful in this role, you will require:
- Bring at least 2 years’ experience in a financial or accounting role
- Demonstrate a solid understanding of budgeting, cost control and core financial principles
- Have hands-on experience preparing, implementing and reviewing budgets
- Apply strong analytical skills to support sound decision-making
- Build effective relationships with stakeholders across all levels of the organisation
- Thrive in a fast-paced environment, managing deadlines and competing priorities
- Maintain a high level of confidentiality and professionalism
- Showcase strong administrative and organisational skills with exceptional attention to detail
- Hold a tertiary qualification in Accounting or a related discipline
- CPA certification will be highly regarded
