The Role
Work type: Full time Permanent Positions or Casual Positions
Locations: Eastern and Western Metropolitan Melbourne and Regional Victoria.

- Melbourne Custody Centre (Melbourne CBD) -24 hour operation
- Moorabbin Justice centre (Monday to Friday)
- Dandenong Children’s Court (Monday to Friday)
- Collingwood Neighbourhood Justice centre (Tuesday to Thursday)
Casual vacancies exist throughout all of our network locations, including the locations listed above and also our Ringwood, Bendigo and Wyndham locations.
About the Role
We are seeking professional, reliable, and security-minded individuals to join our team as Custodial & Court Escort Officers. In this frontline role, you will ensure the safe, secure, and respectful management of persons in custody while providing essential support to the operation of courtrooms and court custodial facilities in Victoria.
Key Responsibilities
Escort and supervise persons in custody within court facilities, cells, and secure areas. Maintain safety, security, and wellbeing of persons in custody, court staff and the public. The role requires Officers to assist with courtroom operations, including presenting persons in custody before the court as required and maintaining a secure and safe environment. Officers will be required to conduct searches, monitor behaviour, and respond effectively to incidents in the custody or court areas. Officers are required to prepare and complete accurate reports, record movements, and complete a range of custody & court tasks to support operations in reference to Custodial & Court Operations.
All officers must be able to communicate professionally with judicial officers, police, legal representatives, and other court stakeholders. Officers will be required to champion Wilson Values, uphold organisational standards, duty-of-care obligations, and follow relevant legislation at all times.
About You
Strong interpersonal and communication skills, ability to remain calm under pressure and manage challenging situations with professionalism. A High level of integrity, maturity, and sound judgment is required, and all staff will be subject to Criminal History & Security Clearance process. Applicants are required to be physically fit and capable of performing tasks involving standing, escorting, and defensive tactics as required. Applicants will require the ability to work collaboratively in a disciplined, supportive team-based environment.
Essential Requirements
Ability to obtain and maintain a Victoria Police security clearance and relevant background checks. Availability to work shifts, including mornings, afternoons, weekends, and public holidays.(This is for the Melbourne CBD Location). All other locations are primarily a Monday to Friday Operating model.
Staff will also require to have and maintain the following;
- First Aid certificate
- Annual CPR certification
- Working with Children Check
- Completion of a medical and physical assessment including drug & alcohol screening
Staff will be required to complete a paid Initial Training Course which is 5 Weeks in duration prior to deployment to a facility. The course is Monday to Friday business hours. Daily attendance for the 5 week course is mandatory. The paid training commences on Monday 29th June, staff are required to attend these training days across the 5 weeks of the course.
Desirable
Experience in security, crowd control,law enforcement, corrections, defence, or emergency services is desirable. Any qualifications including a Certificate III in Correctional Practice or a Certificate III in Security Operations or similar qualification is also desirable. The person we seek is results driven, has exceptional communication skills with a broad range of internal and external stakeholders is desired. This is a team environment and supportive team oriented people are sought for these roles. An Initial Training Course is also required to be undertaken, this is 5 weeks in duration.
