- Employment Type: Casual
- Casual 8-12 hr shift
- 24/7 availability required
- Pay Rate: Level 1 – 5
- Covid 19 - Vaccinations: 3 doses are required
- Previous experience in the security industry is essential.
Wilson Security is expanding in Melbourne. VIC, securing additional contracts that strengthen our presence in the Whole of state. This growth has created new roles within our team, focused on enhancing response and support capabilities for our existing teams and clients.
These positions are crucial to our success in the region and will be supported by our Operations Team and Duty Managers. They offer the opportunity to work in response roles, handling events such as protests and emergency management, with training across multiple locations and a variety of positions.
We are seeking dedicated and experienced Security Officers to join our team in a hospital environment located in Melbourne
DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES:
Patient Watch Duties (Primary Role):
- Direct Patient Observation: Maintain continuous, direct observation of assigned patients to ensure their safety and prevent self-harm, falls, elopement, or harm to others.
- De-escalation: Employ verbal de-escalation techniques to calm and reassure distressed or agitated patients.
- Communication: Report any changes in patient behavior, mood, or status to the nursing staff immediately. Maintain a detailed log of all observations and interventions.
- Patient Support: Provide a supportive and reassuring presence.
- Confidentiality: Adhere strictly to patient confidentiality.
- Compliance: Follow all hospital policies and procedures related to patient safety and observation protocols.
Casual Security Officer Duties (Secondary Role):
- Patrols: Conduct regular patrols of hospital buildings, grounds, and parking lots to deter criminal activity, identify security risks, and ensure the safety of the environment.
- Access Control: Monitor and control access to restricted areas, verifying identification and issuing visitor passes as required.
- Incident Response: Respond to security alarms, disturbances, and emergency situations (e.g., code alerts, medical emergencies) and provide support to staff and first responders.
- Reporting: Document all security incidents, accidents, and suspicious activities in detailed reports.
- Customer Service: Provide professional and courteous assistance to patients, visitors, and staff, offering directions and answering questions.
- De-escalation: Utilize conflict resolution and de-escalation skills to manage difficult situations with agitated or aggressive individuals.
- Enforcement: Enforce hospital policies and procedures, including no-smoking policies, visitor hours, and parking regulations.
- Collaboration: Work closely with other security team members, hospital staff, and law enforcement agencies as needed.
WHO WE ARE LOOKING FOR:
- Australian Citizenship or full working rights.
- Valid Victorian Security License (minimum 1 year of experience)
- Current valid driver’s license.
- COVID-19 vaccinations (three doses, including booster).
- Annual flu vaccination.
- Willingness to undergo a blood test for compliance purposes.
- Proficiency in MS Office and associated programs.
- Professional presentation and strong verbal and written communication skills.
- Flexibility to work 24/7, rotating 8-12hours shifts.
