ABOUT THE ROLE:

  • Full-time 12-month fixed-term position

 



The SOP Coordinator partners with the SOP Writer (Melbourne Airport) and operational leaders to develop, implement and continuously improve SOPs across airport operations. The role ensures procedures are practical, compliant and clearly communicated, supporting safe, consistent and effective service delivery. As an operational subject matter expert, the SOP Coordinator provides hands-on insight into processes and equipment and supports trials and testing to validate new and updated procedures.

 

 

DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES:

 

 

SOP Development & Review


• Partner with the SOP Writer to develop new SOPs aligned to operational needs, customer requirements, compliance changes and risk controls.
• Review existing SOPs to ensure accuracy, relevance and alignment with current operational practices.
• Provide practical operational input to strengthen and refine procedure content.
• Support document control, version management and maintenance of the SOP register.

 

Implementation & Rollout


• Support the communication and rollout of new and updated SOPs across relevant teams.
• Coordinate with site leadership to ensure operational readiness prior to implementation.
• Assist in developing supporting materials, including quick reference guides, training aids and change communications.

 

Training & Engagement


• Deliver clear and consistent training on new and updated SOPs to officers, duty managers and site teams.
• Apply adult learning principles to support effective knowledge transfer and adoption.
• Monitor understanding and compliance through follow-ups, observations and assessments.
• Provide coaching and on-the-job support to reinforce new procedures as required.

 

Quality, Compliance & Continuous Improvement


• Identify gaps or inconsistencies in operational practices and recommend SOP updates or new requirements.
• Support compliance checks and escalate non-conformances where required.
• Work closely with HSE, Quality and Operations to ensure regulatory and contractual alignment.
• Contribute to continuous improvement initiatives and operational reviews.

Knowledge, Skills & Experience

 

Essential


• Experience in aviation security, operations or a similarly regulated service environment.
• Strong understanding of operational processes, compliance requirements and risk management.
• Proven experience delivering training or coaching in a frontline or supervisory role.
• Excellent communication and stakeholder engagement skills.
• High attention to detail with the ability to interpret and apply complex instructions.
• Sound administrative skills, including document control and record management.

 

Desirable


• Certificate IV in Training & Assessment (TAE40116 or equivalent).
• Experience in SOP development, policy writing or process improvement.
• Previous experience within Melbourne Airport or a broader aviation environment.
