The Role

The Site Security Manager will oversee all security operations at their respective site, managing large teams of Security Officers. Your core responsibility will be to lead your teams of security guard professionals to achieve the sites operational requirements at the highest standard, while also focusing on stakeholder engagement and strict adherence to contractual obligations.

 

Reporting to the Defence Area Operations Manager, these roles require a strong leader, able to mentor, guide and develop Security Officers, to ensure optimal results in service delivery. Through effective team management, operational service delivery and sound technical understanding of Security Systems (including, Gallagher, SeeknFind, and Visitor Management systems) you will possess the qualities listed below to empower your teams, to achieve their best and at the highest standards.   

 

Site Security Manager – Department of Defence, (HMAS Stirling) 

Location: Rockingham, Western Australia 

Employment Type: Full-time, Mon-Fri, with additional overtime opportunities 

Award: Annual Salary, commensurate with the SSIA.

Remuneration: $100,000 - $110, 000 (depending on Experience) + sign on bonus if already AGSVA cleared.

Team Size: Approx 50 FTE

 

Site Security Manager – Department of Defence, (Navy Capability Centre)

Location: Henderson, Western Australia 

Employment Type: Full-time, Mon-Fri, with additional overtime opportunities 

Award: Security Services Industry Award (SSIA) 2020 – Annual Wages

Remuneration: $90,000 annual wage + sign on bonus if already AGSVA cleared.

Team Size: Approx 15-20 FTE

 

Key Responsibilities

 

1. Leadership & Team Management

  • Cultivate a positive team culture, promoting professionalism, discipline, and operational excellence
  • Live and own the company and Defence Values
  • Oversee and lead teams of Security Officers, ensuring a supportive and structured command within a Defence-regulated environment.
  • Set clear expectations, priorities, and performance standards, ensuring alignment with Wilson Security and Defence operational requirements.
  • Conduct regular briefings, debriefs, and structured performance evaluations, fostering continuous professional development.
  • Build a resilient, future-proof security team by developing individual capabilities and operational effectiveness.
  • Working with the Rostering/ Scheduling team, ensure appropriate cover for leave and vacant shifts is managed.
  • Engage with Wilson Security’s professional support network for HR, HSE, Care, and Wellbeing to support personnel welfare.
  • Lead up, down, and across the chain of command, ensuring mission clarity, structured decision-making, and accountability.
  • Manage incidents decisively, escalating through structured reporting channels to maintain situational awareness at all levels.

 

2. Operational & Contract Management

  • Oversee the daily execution of security operations, including:
    • Access Control
    • CCTV Monitoring & Surveillance
    • Patrol Security Services
    • Alarm Response
    • Incident Reporting
  • Ensure strict compliance with the Base Services Security Contract, delivering operational excellence and service efficiency.
  • Identify and implement process improvements, enhancing security protocols, resource allocation, and response capabilities.
  • Maintain situational awareness of relevant emerging security topics, ensuring proactive contingency planning.
  • Maintain and enforce Defence security policies and regulatory compliance, including the Defence Security Policy Framework (DSPF) and Protective Security Policy Framework (PSPF).

 

3. Technical Proficiency & Administrative Oversight

  • Demonstrate Intermediate > Advanced technical expertise in security systems, including:
    • Gallagher Access Control
    • SeeknFind GPS & Asset Tracking
    • Visitor Management & Identity Verification Systems
  • Oversee localised SOP development, meeting facilitation including well documented minutes and agendas as needed, and ensure structured timely reporting, to support Wilson Security and Defence objectives.
  • Ensure effective personnel rostering and scheduling, maintaining compliance with the Security Services Industry Award 2020.
  • Prepare comprehensive security reports, risk assessments, and compliance documentation to an audit-ready standard.

 

4. Stakeholder Engagement & Compliance

  • Communicate effectively with all stakeholders and staff to ensure clarity and trustworthiness.  
  • Develop and sustain effective working relationships with Defence stakeholders, ensuring seamless communication and integration into site operations.
  • Act as the primary operational liaison between Wilson Security’s Regional Security Manager, the Base Management Team, and Defence representatives.
  • Ensure strict compliance with Defence security protocols, health, safety, and environmental standards, and corporate governance frameworks.
  • Represent Wilson Security in Defence briefings, risk assessments, and operational planning discussions.
  • Provide structured operational reporting, including incident management, threat assessments, and compliance documentation.

 

5. Incident Management

  • Follow emergency response plans, ensuring a measured, controlled, and disciplined decision-making is made under pressure.
  • Conduct after-action reviews (AARs) following contractually significant incidents to capture lessons learned and continuous improvement opportunities.
  • Ensure security teams are trained and equipped to handle emergency scenarios, evacuation procedures, and other security related incident. .

 

About You

We seek a dedicated and experienced security professional with:

 

  • Must Be able to obtain an NV1 Australian Government Security Vetting Agency (AGSVA) clearance.
  • 3+ years of security leadership experience managing large teams in high-profile, high-security environments.
  • Understanding of working culture and operational
  • WA Security License and Australian Citizenship (required for Defence clearance).
  • Proficiency in Access Control, CCTV Operations, Patrolling, and Incident Response.
  • Strong knowledge of the Defence Security Policy Framework (DSPF) and ability to interpret the Security Services Industry Award 2020.
  • Excellent stakeholder management and interpersonal skills for effective communication in a classified setting.
  • Advanced computer skills for policy management, scheduling, and reporting.
  • A proactive approach to cultural and operational shifts, with a focus on driving positive change within the team and broader site operations.
