We are currently seeking an experienced and driven WA DOD Operations Centre - Manager to lead our 24/7 WA Defence Operations Centre.
About the Role
- Location: HMAS Stirling, Western Australia
- Employment Type: Full-time, Permanent
- Remuneration Package: Competitive Annual Wage + Super
- Award: Security Services Industry Award 2020
- Work Pattern: Monday to Friday (ex-Public Holidays).
- Reports to: Regional Security Manager - Defence
The WA DOD Operations Centre is a mission-critical 24/7 hub that oversees scheduling, workforce planning, communication, fleet logistics, and compliance for the Wilson Security Department of Defence WA region.
Reporting directly to the WA Department of Defence, Regional Security Manager, the Operations Centre - Manager is responsible for the overall performance, efficiency, and leadership of the WA Defence Operations Centre team. The role requires strong leadership, strategic planning, and hands-on operational oversight to ensure the effective management of workforce planning, logistics coordination, financial compliance, and service delivery across multiple Defence sites in the WA region.
This is a high-impact role, ideal for a process driven, technical leader, with scheduling, analysis and administrative management experience, ideally in the Security Industry, who thrives in a high-paced environment and can drive operational excellence.
Key Responsibilities
Operations & Workforce Planning
- Provide strategic leadership and day-to-day management of the 24/7 WA DOD Operations Centre.
- Ensure efficient staffing, rostering, and workforce planning to maintain operational continuity.
- Oversee travel, accommodation, fleet logistics, and workforce deployment.
- Ensure all contractual, SSIA compliance, and service delivery targets are met.
- Monitor and report on contractual service hours and operational performance metrics.
Leadership & Team Management
- Lead, mentor, and manage a team of Operations Centre Operators.
- Conduct staff performance reviews, training, and development initiatives.
- Promote a culture of continuous improvement and operational excellence.
- Ensure adherence to operational procedures, KPIs, and compliance requirements.
Fleet & Logistics Coordination
- Manage fleet operations, including scheduling services, vehicle maintenance, and operational readiness.
- Oversee the allocation, compliance, and cost-effectiveness of fleet resources.
- Ensure all vehicle assets are fit for purpose and in accordance with operational needs.
Performance Monitoring & Reporting
- Track and report on operational performance, dropped shifts, overtime, and cost efficiencies.
- Provide data-driven insights and workforce trend analysis to senior management.
- Oversee payroll query resolution, resource allocation, and workforce compliance.
Compliance & Governance
- Ensure compliance with company policies, Defence contractual obligations, and legislative standards.
- Act as the primary escalation point for operational concerns, service delivery issues, and compliance risks.
- Maintain current risk assessments and hazard controls across the Operations Centre.
Who We Are Looking For
- We are seeking a highly organized, adaptable, and results-driven leader with:
- Exceptional leadership, communication, and problem-solving skills.
- Proficiency in workforce management systems, rostering software, and Microsoft Office (Excel, Outlook, Teams, Power Automate).
- The ability to prioritize and manage competing demands in a high-paced, mission-critical environment.
- Proven management experience in a multi-site operational, security, or defence environment.
- Strong background in 24/7 control room operations, rostering, workforce planning, and logistics coordination.
- Experience in fleet logistics and management, payroll oversight, and operational reporting.
- A high level of commercial awareness with the ability to manage resources efficiently.
Mandatory Requirements
- Must be an Australian Citizen.
- Hold a valid WA Security Licence.
- Hold or be able to obtain an Australian Government Security Vetting Agency (AGSVA) Clearance.
- Unrestricted C Class Driver’s Licence.
