As part of our continued growth, we are seeking a WA DOD Operations Centre - Operator to support our Department of Defence operations in Western Australia (WA).

 

About the Role:

  • Location: HMAS Stirling, Western Australia
  • Employment Type: Full-time position
  • Salary Package: $100k wages PA, plus available overtime
  • Award: Security Services Industry Award 2020
  • Work Pattern: 7 on / 7 Off (Day/night rotation).
  • Reports to: WA Defence Operations Centre Manager

 

The WA DOD Operations Centre is a 24/7 operational hub that oversees scheduling, workforce planning, communication, and logistics for the regional guard force within Wilson Security’s Department of Defence Western Australia Region.

As a WA DOD Operations Centre - Operator, you will play a key role in ensuring the seamless execution of staffing, rostering, compliance, fleet logistics, and workforce deployment across multiple Defence sites. You will be responsible for real-time shift management, travel coordination, payroll support, and operational reporting, ensuring the readiness and effectiveness of security operations across WA Defence facilities.

 

This role reports directly to the WA DOD Operations Centre Manager and works closely with site-based teams to support operational continuity.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Workforce Planning & Rostering: Efficiently schedule and manage rosters for permanent and casual staff across multiple Defence sites.
  • Leave Support and coordination: Track and coordinate leave planning regionally, ensuring appropriate replacements in consultation with relevant site managers
  • Compliance coordination: Ensure compliance with licensing, qualifications, and security clearance requirements for all personnel.
  • Real-Time Shift Management: Oversee dropped shifts and coordinate immediate coverage to maintain 24/7 operations.
  • Payroll & Reporting Support: Collate and validate rostering data, minimizing errors and ensuring accurate staff payroll payments.
  • Travel & Logistics Coordination: Coordinate travel and accommodation for site-based personnel with the relevant Travel partner for FIFO based staff.
  • Stakeholder Engagement: Act as a key point of contact for the Site Security Managers, HR, and Payroll Teams and other internal stakeholders. Act as the initial customer service for external stakeholders who are requesting ADHOC escorting works.  
  • Data & Performance Reporting: Track and report on overtime, dropped shifts, and workforce trends, providing insights and recommendations to the leadership team.
  • Project Management: Support workforce optimization initiatives and contribute to continuous improvement projects.

Who We Are Looking For:

  • Excellent Communication & Coordination Skills: Strong written and verbal communication, with experience in engaging and managing diverse stakeholders.
  • High Adaptability & Structure: Capable of working in fast-paced environments while maintaining structured processes and ensuring operational outcomes.
  • Technical Proficiency: Proficient in Microsoft Office (Excel, Outlook, Teams) and rostering/workforce management software.
  • Problem-Solving & Decision-Making: Demonstrated ability to analyse operational challenges and implement effective solutions.
  • Organizational & Time Management Skills: Ability to prioritize competing tasks, manage multiple projects, and meet deadlines.
  • Rostering & Scheduling Experience: Proven experience in high-volume rostering (multiple locations in a geographically dispersed environment preferred).
  • Security Industry Knowledge: Understanding of Security Services Industry Award conditions and workforce planning in security or similar industries.

Mandatory Requirements:

  • Must be an Australian Citizen
  • Hold a valid WA Security License
  • Hold or be able to obtain an Australian Government Security Vetting Agency (AGSVA) Clearance
