We’re looking for a dynamic Defence Area Operations Manager to take charge of key Department of Defence sites within the Wilson Security portfolio. Reporting to the Regional Security Manager, you’ll provide hands-on leadership, clear strategic direction, and decisive problem-solving to keep operations running at the highest standard.

In this pivotal role, you’ll be the link between Defence, site teams, and senior management—driving efficiency, strengthening performance, and ensuring everything aligns with the Defence Security Principles Framework (DSPF). DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES:

 

  • Lead and monitor contract compliance in line with contractual KPIs.
  • Provide leadership, subject matter expertise, and mentorship to personnel within the area of responsibility.
  • Participate in recruitment, onboarding, training, and performance management.
  • Liaise with key stakeholders on matters of site performance, reporting, service delivery, operational reviews, and opportunities for improvement and innovation.
  • Provide accurate and timely information on performance, variances, and accompanying action plans to the Regional Security Manager.
  • Participate in the management of customer complaints, disputes, and issue resolution.

 

 

WHO WE ARE LOOKING FOR:

 

  • Must have an NT Security Licence
  • Experience with Defence (preferred but not essential for the right candidate)
  • Defence clearance at NV1 level (preferred but not essential for the right candidate)
  • Proven leadership and management skills
  • The ability to generate innovative solutions to satisfy customer needs and deliver high levels of customer satisfaction
  • The ability to work autonomously in a fast-paced environment
  • Strong organisational skills to prioritise, meet deadlines, and manage conflicting time constraints
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • Broad knowledge in the security services industry, with experience in both physical and electronic security sectors is desirable
  • Intermediate to advanced Microsoft Office skills, particularly in MS Office and MS Excel
  • Must be an Australian Citizen (for eligibility to obtain an NV1 clearance, which Wilson Security will sponsor)
